Matt Damon: ‘The Great Wall’ Is ‘Bigger Than Anything I’ve Ever Been A Part Of’

Damon talks moving to China, learning archery, mastering a new dialect and more!

BackstageOL’s Dave Morales sat down with actor Matt Damon in this backstage interview to talk about The Great Wall.

Damon, who is a fan of legendary director Zhang Yimou, explained how he first got involved with the monster film and what it was like to shoot the biggest production ever in China with his family by his side.

“That was part of the whole adventure of it,” said Damon. “I moved there with my wife and kids… It was really cool for my kids to see this whole other culture.”

As for the challenges of playing William, a European mercenary, Damon said that learning the art of archery and mastering a “made-up” accent was the most challenging.
