Fishburne says it’s fun playing a gangster in his hometown of New York.
BackstageOL’s Dave Morales sat down with actor Laurence Fishburne in this backstage interview to talk about his role in John Wick: Chapter 2.
Fishburne, who portrays a ruthless crime lord dubbed The Bowery King, stars alongside Common, Ruby Rose and reunites with former Matrix co-star Keanu Reeves.
The actor discussed how he really wanted to be a part of the action sequel after seeing the first film. He explained, “I was with Keanu and I was telling him how much I liked the first movie… and I was like, ‘You really need to try and help me get involved with the second one… because the first one was so great.’”
As for what he likes most about acting, Fishburne said, “I love acting because – unlike the other arts – it’s very difficult to capture and describe because it’s as diverse as human beings are.”
He continued, “With any art form, the people that do it the best make it look easy, when in fact, it really isn’t.”
