James Mangold Talks ‘Logan’ & Working With Hugh Jackman

Mangold talks about Johnny Cash, his love for western films and more!

BackstageOL’s Dave Morales sat down with director James Mangold in this backstage interview to talk about Logan, the first Rated-R Wolverine feature.

Before discussing his new film, Mangold gave some insight about his 2005 film Walk The Line and how he worked closely with Johnny Cash himself.

“He read the script before we shot it,” revealed Mangold. “He died about six months before we started production of the movie… The script was made under his guidance.”

As for Logan – the continued story of Wolverine – Mangold explained how the pain of the character is very relatable. He continued to illustrate the simplicity of Western films, working with Hugh Jackman and so much more!

Synopsis:

In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.
