Allison Williams and Daniel Kaluuya star as an interracial couple that visit a cursed family estate.
BackstageOL’s Dave Morales sat down with Allison Williams (Girls) and Daniel Kaluuya (Sicario) in this backstage interview to talk about their upcoming roles in the horror comedy Get Out.
The film, which is Jordan Peele’s directorial debut, stars the pair as Chris and Rose, a happy interracial couple that plan to visit Rose’s parents (Bradley Whitford and Catherine Keener) on their family estate – only to find that it is cursed.
In the interview, both Williams and Kaluuya talk about the film’s unique storyline and what it was like to play their characters.
“What I really liked about the script and the idea is that these are real people,” explained Kaluuya. “You’re not in a horror film, you’re not in a comedy – this is a real relationship. You have to feel for them and root for them.”
Synopsis:
Now that Chris (Daniel Kaluuya) and his girlfriend, Rose (Allison Williams), have reached the meet-the-parents milestone of dating, she invites him for a weekend getaway upstate with Missy and Dean. At first, Chris reads the family’s overly accommodating behavior as nervous attempts to deal with their daughter’s interracial relationship, but as the weekend progresses, a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries lead him to a truth that he never could have imagined.
Get Out hits theaters Friday, February 24th. Check out the full interview with Williams and Kaluuya below:
