This weekend, Tom Hanks returns to the role of Robert Langdon for the third time in Inferno. He previously portrayed the character in 2006’s The Da Vinci Code and 2009’s Angels & Demons. All three Ron Howard-directed installments are based on novels by mystery thriller writer Dan Brown.
This time, Hanks is joined by Theory of Everything and soon-to-be Star Wars actress Felicity Jones. In Inferno, Robert Langdon wakes up in a hospital with amnesia and enlists the help of Dr. Sienna Brooks, played by Jones, in hopes of bringing back his memories. The two end up trying to save the world by preventing the release of a deadly virus that would eliminate half of the world’s population.
In an interview with BackstageOL’s Dave Morales, Jones spoke about what it was like to work with Hanks.
“I always feel like I want to say something really bad about him, but there’s just nothing,” Jones joked. “It’s true. He is a very nice person, but more than that, he’s actually incredibly professional and engaged, and he has a very quick mind, and he loves what he does and he doesn’t take it for granted.”
