Interviews

Backstage With Director Boots Riley For SORRY TO BOTHER YOU

The new satire stars Lakeith Stanfield and Tessa Thompson.

Director Boots Riley sits down with Dave Morales to talk about his new film, Sorry To Bother You, which Riley describes as “an absurdist dark comedy, with magical realism and science fiction, inspired by the world of telemarketing.”

In the interview, Riley shares what inspired him to create the film, what it was like to work as a telemarketer, and more!

The film’s synopsis:

In an alternate reality of present-day Oakland, Calif., telemarketer Cassius Green finds himself in a macabre universe after he discovers a magical key that leads to material glory. As Green’s career begins to take off, his friends and co-workers organize a protest against corporate oppression. Cassius soon falls under the spell of Steve Lift, a cocaine-snorting CEO who offers him a salary beyond his wildest dreams.

Sorry To Bother You hits theaters July 13th. Check out the full interview with the Riley below!
