HOUSTON – The Gentleman Jack Art, Beats + Lyrics is the most significant tour of its kind that combines urban art, live music and the original themes of hip-hop culture, including the arts of graffiti, DJ, MC, and breakdancing.
“The partnership with Gentleman Jack has helped usher a new focus on culture, art, and music within our community,” says event founder and producer Jabari Graham.
Among the entertainers scheduled to perform at Art, Beats + Lyrics is A Tribe Called Quest, the hip-hop group featured in the documentary film “Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest.”
A Tribe Called Quest founding member Phife Dawg visited “FOX 26 Morning News Extra” and described his role in Art, Beats + Lyrics. He said the group has not performed since August 2010, but members have been appearing at film festivals including Tribeca in support of the documentary movie.
Admission to Gentleman Jack Art, Beats + Lyrics is free and the event will take place Friday, Dec. 2 at Warehouse Live on 813 Saint Emmanuel Street.
