Anya Taylor-Joy Fights To Survive In ‘Split’

Rising star Anya Taylor-Joy talks working with James McAvoy and director M. Night Shyamalan.

BackstageOL’s Dave Morales sat down with Anya Taylor Joy in this backstage interview to talk about her upcoming thriller Split.

In the film, Taylor-Joy plays Casey Cooke, one of the three girls who is kidnapped and held captive. The actress described what it was like to work alongside James McAvoy who plays Kevin, a man suffering from Dissociative Identity Disorder.

“He [McAvoy] does a such a phenomenal job in this film. He is so epic in his performance that I can tell exactly who I was talking to without him even saying a word.”

Of director M. Night Shyamalan, the actress said that working under him was challenging and very rewarding. “He’s [Shyamalan] incredibly deliberate and specific about what he wants. He sets the bar high – and I thrive in that environment,” she said. “I’d love to work with him for a very long time.”

Synopsis:

Though Kevin (James McAvoy) has evidenced 23 personalities to his trusted psychiatrist, Dr. Fletcher (Betty Buckley), there remains one still submerged who is set to materialize and dominate all of the others. Compelled to abduct three teenage girls led by the willful, observant Casey, Kevin reaches a war for survival among all of those contained within him — as well as everyone around him — as the walls between his compartments shatter.

Split hits theaters Friday, January 20th. Check out the full interview with Taylor-Joy below:
