Anthony Mackie Hopes ‘Detroit’ Will Start Dialogue On Race

From the director of The Hurt Locker comes a gripping true story about the Detroit riots in 1967.

BackstageOL’s Dave Morales sat down with actor Anthony Mackie in this backstage interview to talk about Kathryn Bigelow’s 1967 riot film, Detroit.

In the interview, Mackie shared the emotional experience he had being involved with such a powerful film, what the key takeaways are for society as a whole, and more.

When asked what the conversation people should have after seeing the film, he replied, “What hasn’t changed? Why is our society still driven by fear and confusion, instead of compassion and understanding?”
