Amanda Seyfried: Samuel L. Jackson Was Supposed to Cameo in ‘Ted 2’
BackstageOL’s Dave Morales recently sat down to talk with Amanda Seyfried about her role as lawyer Samantha Leslie Jackson in Ted 2.
Morales asked her whether Samuel L. Jackson was aware that his name was used throughout the film. “Oh I have no idea,” Seyfried said before revealing that Jackson was supposed to have a cameo appearance in the film. “He was meant to [do a cameo]. Yeah, they might’ve cut it out, or he may never have shot it, but there was supposed to be a cameo in the library? I guess it’s not in it. I haven’t seen the movie…It was supposed to be a thing.”
Seyfried also explained that she originally chose her character’s name to be Samantha. “And then [Seth MacFarlane] took that to another level.”
“He’s really laid back, pretty easy going, and very capable of having his fingers…in a lot of pots,” the actress said about working with MacFarlane. “He’s got a collection of thoughts and feelings and facts and history all swarming around in his head, and that’s what Family Guy is. That’s how that all began. That’s why we have Ted…He’s got a lot of things to say. It’s good he has this outlet.”
“There’s a lot of improv between the boys,” she said of MacFarlane and Mark Wahlberg. “I am not so confident when it comes to improv, so I kind of keep my mouth shut and watch what’s happening. They have an amazing dynamic that’s been working for them for so long. Amazing stuff comes out of their mouths.”
“We got along really well,” she added. “The set was super, super chill. It was interesting to get to know Mark…Mark actually had us over to his mom’s house once. He surprised us on set a lot with Wahlburgers. He stole my dog…He’s very proud of Boston…We met a lot of cool people through him that would come visit him on set…It was just fun.”
