Almost Christmas hits theaters this Friday.
BackstageOL’s Dave Morales sat down with Almost Christmas stars Danny Glover & Mo’Nique in this backstage interview to talk about holding back laughter while working on the holiday film, being amongst a talented cast and more.
“You know how sometimes you have to use the bathroom, and you got to hold it?” Glover explained. “You are sitting up there all the time, trying to hold the laughter… and you just pray that you are off camera because it was just hilarious.”
Mo’Nique chimed in to illustrate how talented the cast was, from the younger actors to the seasoned actors. “No one was acting. We were letting it happen. When you are in the midst of baby geniuses and living legends… we became a family, nobody was acting,” she said.
As the interview came to a close, Mo’Nique urged people to live in the moment and “let Christmas be today.”
She stated, “If we waste time wanting to get to that day, some of us don’t make it to that day. You wasted your energy focusing on that day. So ‘almost Christmas’ – let it be everyday. So, if there is something you want to make better, don’t wait until Christmas. Let Christmas be today.”
The film’s official synopsis:
A new comedy from writer/director David E. Talbert (“Baggage Claim”) and producer Will Packer (“Ride Along”, “Think Like a Man” series, “This Christmas”), “Almost Christmas” tells the festive story of a beloved patriarch who asks his family for one gift this holiday season: to get along. If they can honor that wish and spend five days under the same roof without killing one another, it will be a Christmas miracle.
Almost Christmas hits theaters on November 11th. Watch the full interview with Glover and Mo’Nique below:
