Adam Sandler Reveals Favorite Arcade Games
BackstageOL’s Dave Morales chatted with Adam Sandler about his upcoming film Pixels, which is based off of a 2010 short film of the same name, as well as his love for video games. In Pixels, Sandler’s character is a former Pac-Man video game champion who must help defeat the video game characters who attack the Earth.
Sandler was surprised that a film similar to Pixels hadn’t already been made. “I would’ve thought this movie came out already. The fact that these video games come alive and we have to fight them…I would think they would’ve put this movie out maybe ten years ago, but I’m glad we got it.”
Sandler also described how the movie came to be. “We saw the short, and I thought that it would make an awesome movie with guys who were good at these games back in the day being called upon to take these guys out.”
“I lived for this stuff,” Sandler said when asked if he was a fan of video games growing up. “If we were at Pizza Hut and I heard the noise, I’d definitely get a quarter from daddy.”
Pixels, which stars Sandler alongside Kevin James, Michelle Monaghan, Peter Dinklage, and Josh Gad, hits theaters July 24, 2015.
