HOUSTON (BACKSTAGEOL)- Millicent Simmonds joins Dave Morales to talk about her experience working on A Quiet Place Part II as a deaf actress, her character’s challenges in the sequel, and much more in the latest interview with the cast.

Simmonds shares how her character’s development following the events from the first movie play an integral part in the sequel. Not only is her character’s relationship with her family affected, but now her finding her own path to self-discovery begins in Part II.

“She has to grow herself and find her journey and her vision after everything has changed because of what happened in the first movie,” Simmonds adds.

The young actress continues on expressing the tight bond she shares with her castmates as they return to set to film the sequel. She explains the unique experience she has while being a part of this franchise and being brought into the movie world. Being a deaf actress in the movie industry comes with its own challenges that most cannot understand. However, Simmonds delivers a phenomenal performance while becoming an inspiration to the deaf community overnight.

Finding new ways to convey the story was crucial for its achievement and creative outlook. With the growing popularity for the first movie and increased attention for a sequel, Simmonds and her castmates become additions to the inspirational impact the movie series creates with its innovative storytelling.

Filming a movie that lacks dialogue can be difficult, but the successful outcome has opened doors to new possibilities in filmmaking. Co-stars Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou talk with Dave Morales about their experience filming A Quiet Place Part II.

While filming a quiet thriller, Murphy discusses the challenges the actor’s face that are more complicated than the average actor. “It’s a real challenge to get to act with your body, a lot, which you don’t get to do normally.”

With scripts containing more description and stage direction, the actors must play the part more physically than verbally. Attention to exaggerated movements is necessary to convey their character’s message on the screen.

“Your body becomes the language,” Hounsou adds.

When it comes to preparing oneself for a role, mindset can make or break a character’s delivery to the audience. Cillian and Hounsou talk about the uniqueness of the film and what goes into making the movie in their interview.
