Microsoft and 343 Industries announced this week at the Xbox One reveal that one of Hollywood’s best known directors, Steven Spielberg, will be working on a live action television series based on the popular Halo franchise. While it is rumored that Spielberg will be directing the new TV series, he will actually be producing the show alongside Halo developer 343 Industries
While Spielberg was unable to attend the Xbox One event, he did appear on screen to tell the audience, “For me, the Halo universe is an amazing opportunity to be at that intersection where technology and myth-making meet to create something really groundbreaking.” He also noted that the franchise is “myth-making meat.”
Microsoft only announced that Spielberg is set to work on the production of Halo: The Television Series, not disclosing any information on who else may be involved in the series, when the series is set to air, or if production has even began. Although details of the show have yet to surface, it has been rumored that the series will focus on either the franchises’ central character Master Chief and his battle against evil Covenant or the broader Halo universe.
Halo: The Television Series will be available exclusively through the new Xbox One console.
