Over 100 million copies of Minecraft have officially been sold across PC, console, and mobile platforms, making it the second best-selling standalone video game of all time.
The building blocks game, which was first introduced in 2009, has been selling an average of 53,000 copies per day this year.
“If each person that bought a copy formed a nation, it would be the 12th most populous in the world, behind Russia, Japan and Mexico,” Microsoft stated in a press release.
Tetris is the reigning best-selling game with half a billion sales. Behind Minecraft, Grand Theft Auto V is the third best-selling game with 65 million copies sold.
