After a brief 4 year stint, game publisher Konami has announced that it will be pulling the plug on it’s PS3 offshoot: Metal Gear Solid. In it’s hay-day, MGO reported approximately 1.3 million subscribers in March 2009, which pales in comparison to Blizzard’s recorded 12 million in late 2010. Konami will be phasing the game out gradually, as to not send players into immediate withdrawals. The closing schedule is as follows:
March 21st
MGO online shop closes.
April 24th
Expansion packs and Preset Codec Message Appeal Packs will be available for free download.
Reward shop equipment will be available for free (with the exception of “non-sale” items).
*New player registration will be disabled from this point forward.*
