Game Releases

Game Releases: Feb.19-25

Two of today’s big releases include EA’s reboot of the 1993 classic, Syndicate, as well as Asura’s Wrath, an original title from Capcom.

Syndicate

Syndicate received a lot of flak from the start after it was revealed that the game would not be a true continuation of the original, released by Bullfrog Productions, and would be changing from a tactical to a first-person shooter. However, it seems Syndicate couldn’t quite win over all of its naysayers after receiving a mixed review from IGN.

Their review criticized the game’s inability to escape the mindless barrage of bullets that is a FPS, topped with a lack-luster story line. Although, both IGN and GameSpot did give Syndicate‘s high marks for scoring ideas and manipulative gameplay, and praised the execution of its 4 player co-op feature. So, go grab a few friends and tell us what YOU think!

Asura’s Wrath

If you’ve been looking for an interactive TV show that’s not Jeopardy, your prayers have been answered.

Asura’s Wrath combines the elements of traditional anime through lengthy cut scenes and whimsical missions with the button mashing of an action game. The game has been split up into 18, 20 minute ‘episodes,’ totaling 6 hours of cut scene greatness, but only 2 hours of actual gameplay. The graphics are reported to be some of the best out there, but game content stays the same, making it unlikely that this will be a game you play through multiple times.

Before you rush out to buy this game, be forewarned that despite short gameplay and limited activity, Asura’s Wrath is priced as a full game at $60. Go empty out the piggy bank and enjoy one of Capcom’s most original titles!

Both games scored a 7.5 on IGN’s Games Rating scale. But hold on, February isn’t over yet, and some of the best is yet to come!
