2012 promises to be a year full of great video game releases, including such titles as Mass Effect 3 and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition for Xbox360. Though those games come out in March and April, respectively, February has a few promising candidates itself.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
KoA promises to be a game worthwhile, with high reviews praising its bug-free game play, customizable action-oriented experience, and immersive nature. With New York Times bestselling author R.A. Salvatore behind the games story line, you will easily find yourself logging 30+ hours of game time.
Parent company, EA, announced a crossover between Reckoning and future cash cow, Mass Effect 3; playing the demo for Kingdoms of Amalur unlocks two Reckoning-inspired items in ME3, and vice-versa (ME3 demo unlocks weapon and armor in KoA).
If you have to wait until payday to buy Reckoning, the free demo version is still available for Xbox360, PS3, or PC through Steam or Origin, before you commit to this $60 investment.
The Darkness II
Imagine The Godfather, Max Payne, and Diablo had a love-child; now you have The Darkness II.
The Darkness II picks up two years after its comic book turned video game predecessor, rife with anger, ammo, and a whole lot of blood. The more creative and vicious the kills you pull off, the more abilities you gain for finishing moves, adding to the aforementioned gore and allure of this first person shooter.
Returning players can expect resistance from formidable and experienced enemies, as well as a more streamlined control system which will provide greater ease when controlling your ‘extremities.’ Players new to The Darkness games can expect revenge, camaraderie, and the tiniest glimpse of hope.
Did we mention there’s blood?
Combat Wings: The Great Battles of WWII
Players will take to the skies as a fighter pilot re-enacting 20 different combat missions on the battlefront of WWII. Pilots, planes, and missions vary depending on which air campaign you choose at the start of your game.
Defending Great Britain, dog-fighting the Japanese over the Pacific Ocean, and finding an unusual ally in the Russians are just some of the events you will relive as you battle to end Germanys rising power in Europe. Experience what our war heroes faced with this simulated flight, action game.
Combat Wings is available for PS3, Xbox360, and even Nintendo Wii. Go out and thank a Veteran, today.
