‘Battlefield’ Reveal Scheduled for June 9

Electronic Arts announced a reveal for upcoming Battlefield sequel.

Electronic Arts and developer DICE announced Tuesday they will be revealing the newest entry in the Battlefield franchise on June 9 at 7 a.m. PDT/4 p.m. CEST, according to the official twitter for Battlefield.

The Battlefield franchise is a series of first-person shooter video games that put an emphasis on scale. The signature of the franchise involves large maps, teamwork and vehicle play.

There are still no details regarding the setting of the upcoming sequel or whether or not it will even be titled Battlefield 6 as it has been speculated, and it’s unclear what exactly will be revealed June 9.

Oskar Gabrielson, general manager at DICE, promises the massive online multiplayer game will be a “bold step” for the franchise and then some.

“It has everything we love about Battlefield,” Gabrielson said. “Epic scale. All-out military warfare. Crazy, unexpected moments. Game-changing destruction. Massive battles, packed with more players and mayhem than ever before. All brought to life with the power of next-gen consoles and PCs.”

Development of the game has also led to what Gabrielson calls the “biggest team ever” after EA directed its studio Criterion Games to assist DICE. The studio has previously supported DICE with titles such as Star Wars Battlefront, Battlefield 2, and the Firestorm battle royale mode in Battlefield 5.
