Next year the Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen, Denmark will run a play entitled “Amy” based off the life of the singer Amy Winehouse.
The play “Amy” will showcase Winehouse’s famous songs from her album Back To Black as well as songs from its predecessor, Frank. “Amy” will be based on the late singer’s struggle as a young artist through her success as a worldwide sensation. The production will be based on published interviews, concerts, speeches, letters and songs to showcase her life. “Amy” will also portray Winehouse’s death from alcohol poisoning in July 2011.
The Winehouse family has confirmed to BBC that they are not involved in the production of “Amy”. Winehouse will be portrayed by 29-year-old actress Johanne Louise Schmidt.
“Amy” opens on January 30th at the Royal Danish Theatre and will run through April 13,2013.
