Third Victim of SXSW Tragedy Dies

The Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office announced on Monday that a third victim from the South by Southwest tragedy has died.

Sandy Le, a resident of Austin, was being held in critical condition at the University Medical Center Brackenridge with injuries to the head after being hit by suspected driver Rashad Owens on Thursday. Her family was at her side at the time of her death.

The other two victims that were killed from Thursday’s vehicular rampage are 27-year-old Jamie West and 35-year-old Steven Craenmehr. West, an Austin resident, was riding a scooter with Craenmehr, a Dutch musician, when they were struck by the speeding car.

Suspected driver Rashad Owens has been charged with capital murder and remains in police custody after a judge set his bail at $3 million.
