The 2023 Houston Rodeo kicks off this week with several new riding events, carnival games, and more!
Rodeo Updates
Women’s Breakaway– The Women’s Breakaway roping competition will be held for 20 consecutive nights instead of the previous 7.
Wild Card Round – The one-day Wild Card round has been split into a two-day event. This removes the “Super Shootout” event from the calendar. The first Wild Card round will be Friday, March 17th and the second will be Saturday, March 18th.
Carnival Updates
Raptor Coaster – This year, a new coaster with a Jurassic theme is on the fairgrounds. Humans did not learn their lesson from Jurassic Park.
Sea Ray – A new pirate-themed swinging ride has also been added to the fairground. Bring in the whole family for this swashbuckling ride.
Rodeo Round-Up
The opening week of the 2023 Houston Rodeo sees the return of familiar faces and the light of new stars. Parker Mccollum opens the rodeo on the 28th with Brooks & Dunn following on March 1st for Armed Forces Day.
Lauren Daigle sets the weekend up on March 2nd with Bun B and his Southern Takeover returning for Black Heritage Night on March 3rd. Finally, Walker Hayes and Zac Brown Band close the weekend on March 4th and 5th respectively.
