In a video released by The Daily Mail, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson of One Direction were allegedly caught smoking marijuana. During the five-minute clip, narrated by Tomlinson, the two are seen taking hits from a joint while talking with members of their entourage during a car ride in Lima, Peru.
“So here we are, leaving Peru, joint lit Happy Days!” said Tomlinson, who proceeds to ask Malik, “What do you think about that kind of content?” Malik responds, “Very controversial.”
The singer continues, “One very important factor of Zayn’s warm up, of course, is Mary J. herself.”
At one point in the video, Tomlinson records a police officer outside the vehicle’s window and says, “One nil b—h! Look at this b—h! He’s having a look, He’s thinking, ‘I’m sure I can smell an illegal substance in there.’ And he’s hit the nail on the head.”
Other members of the band, Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Liam Payne, are not seen in the video.
At this time, it’s unclear whether of not the video had been altered, but a rep for the boy band told Us Weekly, “This matter is in the hands of our lawyers.”
Marijuana is illegal in Peru, but possession is not punishable if the amount is under eight grams and is for personal and immediate consumption.
