Tracy Morgan Released from Rehab, Sues Wal-Mart

Tracy Morgan has been released from an intense inpatient rehab facility as he continues to heal from serious injuries inflicted from a car crash in June.  The former Saturday Night Live star will continue his recovery at home with an “aggressive outpatient program,” claimed spokesman Lewis Kay.

Morgan had suffered a broken leg, broken nose and broken ribs after the limousine bus he was riding in was struck by a Wal-Mart truck on the New Jersey Turnpike.  The collision took the life of 62-year-old comedian James McNair, better known as Jimmy Mack. Comedian Ardley Fuqua and Jeffrey Millea were also injured.

Lawyers for Morgan filed a lawsuit against the Bentonville, Arkansas based Wal-Mart Stores Inc. in U.S. District Court in New Jersey on Thursday, claiming the retailer was negligent when a driver of one of its tractor-trailers rammed into Morgan’s limousine van.  The complaint claims that Wal-Mart Inc. should have known that its drivers had been awake for more then 24 hours and the drivers commute of 700 miles from his home in Georgia to work in Delaware was “unreasonable.” It states the driver had fallen asleep at the wheel.

There’s no word on when Morgan plans to return to the stage at the time.
