Suspicion Confirmed: Marilyn Monroe Had Plastic Surgery

Even though Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe passed away over 50 years ago, rumors have continuously spread over whether or not the starlet had plastic surgery.  Now it appears those rumors have been confirmed since a physician’s notes on Monroe surfaced, which imply that she underwent cosmetic surgery. Those notes, as well as a set of Marilyn Monroe x-rays, will be up for auction next month through Julien’s Auctions.

The seller of these items, who is unidentified, received them from Hollywood plastic surgeon Michael Gurdin, who died in 1994. The notes discuss how a 1950 cartilage implant in Monroe’s chin was slowly beginning to dissolve.  The x-rays show the star’s facial bones, nasal bones, and the roof of her mouth.  They are dated June 7, 1962 from when Monroe had a late night fall, two months before she would die from a drug overdose.

After allegedly having the plastic surgery, Monroe would go on to star in some of her biggest films, including How to Marry a Millionaire and The Seven Year Itch.

“Nobody really thought about Marilyn Monroe having plastic surgery. It was always speculation – did she or didn’t she?” Martin Nolan, executive director of Julien’s Auctions, stated. “They thought she was such a natural beauty, they didn’t want to believe.”

The items will be up for auction during a November 9-10 event. They are expected to earn between $15,000 and $30,000.
