Actor Chris Pine has pleaded guilty to charges of driving under the influence of alcohol in New Zealand.
Following a wrap-up party for his upcoming film “Z for Zachariah,” Pine was stopped by police at 3 a.m. on March 1 where he admitted to having consumed four drinks. A breathe test showed that the actor had a blood-alcohol level of 0.11, surpassing New Zealand’s legal limit of 0.08.
Pine’s lawyer requested that the actor’s charge be dismissed, because a conviction would hurt Pine’s career and would be out of proportion to the offense, Stuff website reports. Judge Joanna Maze denied the request and said Pine would be treated like anyone else who enters her courtroom.
As a result, Pine was fined $79 American dollars during his hearing at Ashburton District Court on Monday and had his New Zealand drivers license suspended for six months.
