Legendary Adult film star Ron Jeremy, aka “The Hedgehog,” drove himself to a hospital in Los Angeles on Tuesday afternoon with chest pains. Doctors thought it could have been a heart aneurysm, but after surgery began this morning it was discovered that it is aortic dissection. This is a serious, life threatening condition that can be managed through surgery and drugs.
The condition occurs when there is a separation of the aorta walls, when there is a tear in the inner wall of the aorta it causes blood to flow between the three layers of the wall of the aorta. This forces the walls apart. While the exact cause of this condition is unknown, it is usually attributed to old age, hardening of the arteries, and high blood pressure (Jeremy’s 59 years old). His surgeon at Cedars Sinai is expected to make a statement later on after the surgery is completed.
Ron Jeremy has appeared in tons of films other than from the adult film industry. Films such as “The Boondock Saints,” “Orgazmo,” “Crank: High Voltage,” “The Rules of Attraction” and “Reindeer Games.” Late last year, Jeremy attended the premiere of Chuck Norfolk’s “The Haunted Trailer” in Houston where the film was made. He played The Demon that possesses a Redneck family’s trailer, that is just the start of a hilarious and over the top comedy/horror feature.
We all wish Ron a speedy recovery.
