Thanks to the multi-billion dollar box office success of The Avengers and Iron Man 3, Robert Downey Jr now holds the top spot on Forbes’ annual list of highest paid actors in the world.
Along with The Avengers and Iron Man 3, Downey has stared in five other films, each grossing over $500 million at box offices worldwide. With two billion dollar and five half-billion dollar films, the Iron Man star made an estimated $75 million in earnings between June 2012 and June 2013.
It’s hard to believe that an actor that once struggled from substance abuse and was considered box office poison is now a figure of Hollywood royalty.
Trailing behind Downey is White House Down star Channing Tatum, who made an estimated $60 million, while Hugh Jackman earned $55 million last year.
