Rihanna Accused of Bullying Teen Fan
16-year-old Alexis Carter wore an ensemble inspired by Rihanna’s 2010 Echo Awards outfit to her Hollywood themed prom only to become the victim of cyber bullying.
“I was like, “Oh my God, I love this outfit. I wanna go with this outfit. Let me go show my mom! And I was like ‘Mom, mom, mom, I wanna wear this, it’s cool, I love it, oh my go,” said the Baltimore teen.
A family friend had crafted the unique outfit for Carter and ended up being a hit her prom. “Everybody was saying ‘Oh my god, I love it, it looks nice your body looks great and its different,” recalled Carter.
However, the next day, photos of her posed in her outfit began to circulate on social media. #PromBat became a trend on Twitter, complete with altered photos that mocked Carters jumpsuit.
Pop singer Rihanna joined the bandwagon by posting a photo to Twitter of herself wearing the jumpsuit with the caption “IG” alongside a photo of Carter in her recreation with the caption “Real Life” and a sad face. In another tweet, the singer posted a photo of the teen next to a photo of the bat like Wu-Tang Clan symbol.

“I was very offended,” said Carter of Rihanna’s tweets. “Why throw shade on it when you had on the exact same thing? The poses was different but the outfit wasn’t,” she continued, “She don’t lover her fans like she says she does.”
Rihanna has yet to comment on the controversy.
