10. Marilyn Monroe (1926 – 1962)
Actress Marilyn Monroe died of a barbiturate overdose in 1962. On August 5th, Monroe was discovered lying nude on her bed, face down, with a telephone in one hand at her Los Angeles home. An empty bottle of sleeping pills, prescribed to treat her depression, was found by her bed. After a brief investigation, Los Angeles police concluded that her death was “caused by a self-administered overdose of sedative drugs and that the mode of death is probable suicide.” Monroe was 36 years old.
