‘Power Rangers’ Actor Accused of Stabbing Roommate Released Without Charge

Former Power Rangers actor Ricardo Medina Jr. has been released from jail after being arrested Saturday for allegedly stabbing roommate Joshua Sutter to death with a sword.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has not filed any charges against Medina, but asked the Sheriff’s Department to continue investigating the incident.

“I’m very, very, very sorry for what occurred,” Medina said after he was released, according to KTLA. “I’m very happy to be out of jail, and my heart goes out to the Sutter family.”

The initial report stated there was a fight between Medina and Sutter at their Palmdale, California, home, and Medina retreated to his room with his girlfriend. Sutter reportedly forced his way through the door, and Medina grabbed a sword that was near his bed and stabbed him. Medina then called 911 and waited for police to arrive. He claims he was acting out of self-defense.

Medina played the red Power Ranger in 2002’s Power Rangers Wild Force. He also played voiced villian Deker in Power Rangers Samurai from 2011 to 2012.
