‘Little Rascals’ Actress Jackie Lynn Taylor Dies at 88

Jackie Lynn Taylor, who starred as one of the Little Rascals, died on Monday in the Sacramento suburbs of Citrus Heights, California at the age of 88.

The 1930s child star appeared in five of Hal Roach’s “Our Gang” comedy shorts as gang leader Wally Albright’s girlfriend Jane. Darla Hood replaced her for the role of Jane after Taylor grew older and became too tall.

“We didn’t have scripts,” she told The Sacramento Bee in 2000. “We played together. We were kids who worked together, who played together and who went to school together. We weren’t great actors, but we got along.”

The starlet went on to perform in over 75 movies, TV dramas, and national commercials. She appeared in “Our Gang” producer Hal Roach’s Laurel & Hardy films “The Devil’s Brother” (1933) and “Babes in Toyland” (1934).

In her later years, Taylor went on to work as one of the first female TV co-hosts in Southern California at KTTV Los Angeles, as well as in other stations around California.

Her husband Jack Fries, a former CBS journalist and anchorman, confirmed the death to The Bee and stated that his wife passed away following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

“She was magnetic when she got in front of an audience,” her husband said. “She liked to contribute and talk to people and help them feel good. She was a giver.”
