Reynolds passed away just a day after her daughter, Carrie Fisher.

Legendary actress Debbie Reynolds, mother of the late Carrie Fisher, has died at Cedars-Sinai hospital at the age of 84.

“She wanted to be with Carrie,” her son, Todd Fisher, told Variety, confirming his mother’s death.

On Wednesday (December 28th), Reynolds was taken to the hospital after a suspected stroke, the day after her daughter, Carrie Fisher, passed away. Fisher, renowned for her role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars series, died at the age of 60 four days after being rushed to the hospital. She suffered cardiac arrest on a plane.

Carrie’s half-sister, Joely Fisher shared a photo of her and her former stepmother on Twitter, with a caption that read, “God speed mama.”

Born in El Paso, Texas in 1932, Reynolds is known for starring in an array of musicals, making a star turn in Singin’ in the Rain in 1952, opposite Gene Kelly and Donald O’Connor. She also starred in memorable films such as The Tender Trap, Tammy and the Bachelor and The Unsinkable Molly Brown.

Reynolds married singer Eddie Fisher in 1955, and had two children, Carrie and Todd. The couple divorced in 1959.

Stars took to social media to share their condolences and tributes, reacting to the tragic turn of events.
