Oscar winning actor Kevin Spacey reportedly scolded an audience member at the Old Vic Theater in London on Wednesday when a cell phone began to ring during his powerful soliloquy.
Spacey was up on stage for the opening night of his one man show, Clarence Darrow, to help celebrate his 10th anniversary as artistic director of the Old Vic Theatre Company.
The actor was in the midst of a scene in which Spacey’s character, Clarence Darrow, is pleading his innocence while on trial, when a phone began to continuously ring.
The ringtone grew louder and louder as the guilty party attempted to look innocent. Finally, in full character, Spacey retorted, “If you don’t answer that, I will.”
Apparently, Spacey’s actions elicited a loud ovation from the audience with immediate applause.
Clarence Darrow is slated to run at the Old Vic Theatre till Sunday, June 15th.
