Johnny Depp and wife Amber Heard are heading to splitsville.
Heard filed for divorce Monday after fifteen months of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. This occurred only a few days after Depp’s mother, Betty Sue Palmer, passed away from a long-term illness.
Depp and Heard first met on the set of The Rum Diary in 2009. After calling it quits with partner Vanessa Paradis of 14 years in 2012, Depp started dating Heard. They married in February 2015.
Last year, the two made headlines when they got in trouble with the Australian government for illegally bringing their two dogs into the country while Depp was filming the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean film. Heard ended up pleading guilty to falsifying information on the immigration document, and the couple released an awkward and strange apology video about the incident.
The couple did not have any children together, but Depp has two kids from his previous relationship with Paradis.
Heard and Depp reportedly did not have a prenuptial agreement. Heard requested spousal support in her divorce petition, but Depp responded through his lawyer Laura Wasser Wednesday that the judge deny her request. He also wants Heard to pay for her own attorney fees. In the petition, she had wanted Depp to cover the costs.
Depp is currently in the midst of promoting Alice Through the Looking Glass, which hits theaters Friday, May 27.
