Today another hat was thrown in the presidential race for 2016. Rumors have been circulating for the past year about Donald Trump running in the upcoming election and today those rumors have been confirmed.
From the top of the Trump Tower in New York today Donald Trump announced that he was running for the Presidential Election of 2016. Trump is widely recognized for his money making talents as a real estate mogul, hard hitting businessman, and his reality show The Apprentice.
Now that Trump is a presidential candidate can he still be a tv host? The quick answer is no.
“We will re-evaluate Trump’s role as host of ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ should it become necessary, as we are committed to this franchise,” the network said in a statement. Trump’s political contenders could cry foul about unfair exposure if he were to continue on the show, in addition to a potential breach of the government’s “equal time” rules.
As for the show’s fifteenth season, production has not even begun yet so there is no immediate conflict. The soonest the network would air a new season would be in September when the 2015-16 TV season begins.
The stern businessman known for his catch phrase “You’re Fired!” and his $4.1 billion dollar net worth gave a lengthy speech during his announcement on how America has changed and not for the better.
In one portion of the speech Trump stated, “Our Country is in serious trouble. We don’t have victories anymore. We used to have victories, but we don’t have them.” Trump also commented on his dislike for Obamacare and foreign trading policies.
