Just last week it was revealed that former teen heartthrob David Cassidy was arrested for driving under the influence. Now his marriage appears to be over as Cassidy’s wife Sue Shifrin-Cassidy has filed for divorce after being together for 28 years.
“This has been looming for some time,” Shifrin-Cassidy said to TMZ. “I am truly heartbroken that our marriage is ending.”
Cassidy and Shifrin-Cassidy have been separated since August last year. This marriage was the third one for Cassidy and the second for Shifrin-Cassidy. The couple have one son together, Beau, 23.
It is unknown whether the couple is separating over Cassidy’s recent battles with alcohol. Cassidy has a total of three DUI arrests in the last four years and is currently in rehab. Shifrin-Cassidy wishes him the best, telling TMZ, “I’m glad David is getting the help he needs and I am confident he will come back better and stronger than ever.”
