Update: Cee Lo Green Pleads Not Guilty to Ecstasy Charges

Update:

Cee Lo Green pled not guilty on Monday afternoon to charges of giving a woman ecstasy over a year ago.  The singer is currently posting a $30,000 bail where he will have to check himself in to authorities within the next 24 hours.

Green’s next hearing has been set for next month, where he must be present.  If convicted, Cee Lo could face up to four years in prison.

Cee Lo Green has been cleared of sexual assault charges by the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office after he allegedly slipped ecstasy in a woman’s drink back in 2012.  The 39-year-old singer and talent judge isn’t in the clear though, he is still going to be charged with one felony count of furnishing ecstasy.

The sexual assault charge was dropped after the district attorney could not find sufficient evidence to charge Green with the crime.  According to TMZ, Cee Lo Green fully cooperated with law enforcement officials after the woman claimed the two had been dating for months and had already been intimate, allegations Green completely denied.

The reason Green is being charged with the felony count is due to a tape the woman recorded that she claims proves the “Forget You” singer admits to slipping the drug into her drink.   While Green does not refer to slipping Ecstasy into her drink, he does mention the drug.  Therefore, the district attorney considers the tape a confessions to drug use, hence the felony charge.  He is expected to be arraigned as early as this afternoon.

What will come of Cee Lo Green?  Will he spend time in jail?  Probably not.  Since this is the singer’s first offense with the law, and due to extreme overcrowding in Los Angeles area jails, he will most likely receive probation.
