Best-selling author Tom Clancy passed away on Tuesday at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MA. The “Patriot Games” and “The Hunt for the Red October” author was recovering from a brief illness at the time of his death. He was 66.
David Shanks, CEO of Penguin Group, was involved in the publishing of all of Clancy’s books and released a statement saying, “I’m deeply saddened by Tom’s passing. He was a consummate author, creating the modern-day thriller, and was one of the most visionary storytellers of our time. I will miss him dearly and he will be missed by tens of millions of readers worldwide.”
Many of Clancy’s best-selling books turned into Hollywood blockbusters. Patriot Games, The Hunt for the Red October and Clear and Present Danger were all very successful at the box office.
Seventeen of Clancy’s novels were No. 1 New York Times best sellers, including his latest release “Threat Vector”. His next book, “Command Authority,” is currently scheduled to be published on December 3. It will surely be another New York Times best seller.
