Artists React to SXSW Accident on Twitter
As news of the car accident early Thursday at the SXSW festival in Austin spread, artists took to Twitter to share their best wishes and thoughts with fans and families of the lost.
A reckless driver fleeing police ran his car through a barricade at Red River St and 10th St at approximately 12:30 a.m. He crashed into a crowd near the festival, killing two and injuring 23.
Tyler the Creator was supposed to kick off his show at 1 am Thursday morning, but he later tweeted, “Show isn’t happening, something sad happened. I’m bummed.”
Austin based band The Black Angels wrote to fans on their Facebook page, “Our hearts go out to all those involved in the tragedy that happened on red river tonight. Sigh… so sorry.”
Lady Gaga was spotted just after midnight at a Semi Precious Weapons show at Rusty’s. She posted later on Twitter:
