Idina Menzel Wants to Play Elsa in ‘Frozen’ on Broadway
Tony-winning actress and “Let It Go” Oscar winning singer Idina Menzel wants to reprise her role as Elsa in the Broadway adaptation of Disney’s Frozen.
Idina Menzel, who voiced Elsa in Disney’s Frozen, would like reprise her role as Queen Elsa in the Broadway version of Frozen. When Menzel was asked about reprising the role of Elsa she responded with “Yes! Sure! Absolutely!”
Frozen became the highest-grossing animated movie in history and the film’s Oscar winning song “Let It Go”, sung by Menzel, became a billboard chart topper for eight weeks since its release last November. Now Frozen is in development to come to Broadway and Menzel is a Broadway veteran. Menzel has already starred in Broadway shows like Rent and Wicked. She is currently starring in the musical If/Then.
Menzel’s co-star Kristen Bell has expressed interest in reprising her role as Princess Anna on Broadway. “Everybody in Frozen is a Broadway veteran so I certainly hope they try and wrangle us,” Bell told Entertainment Weekly radio.
Disney has not officially announced the cast for the Broadway adaption of Frozen or when the musical is heading to Broadway.
