The first teaser for director Joel Coen’s The Tragedy of Macbeth was released Tuesday morning. The footage offered a first look at Denzel Washington as Macbeth and Francis McDormand as Lady Macbeth.
Macbeth is a tale that has seen been projected on the silver screen numerous times now. The most recent depiction came from Justin Kurzel’s 2015 Macbeth starring Michael Fassbender and Marrion Cotillard.
This will also be Joel’s first directorial effort without his brother Ethan. The two have collaborated on several Oscar-winning films and had been making films together since the early 80s. Ethan is currently taking a break from films to focus on theater.

The Tragedy of Macbeth will debut in theaters Dec. 25 before going to AppleTV on Jan. 14.
