‘The Crown’ Confirms Season 5 Release Date

Season five of the Emmy- winning Netflix drama The Crown will not arrive until November 2022. Sadly, fans are deeply upset by the news. So eager fans took to social media and voiced their opinions about the announcement. On the upside, a dramatic and worthwhile season can be expected when 2022 rolls around.

The Announcement for Season 5

Netflix revealed the news at their Tudum event on Sept. 25 reported by Deadline. For clarity, Netflix’s Tudum event is a celebration of the streaming service’s global commonwealth of film/TV titles. Imelda Staunton, who will play Queen Elizabeth II in the upcoming season shared a message via Twitter. “I’m delighted to be here inheriting the role of Queen Elizabeth from two outstanding actresses,” Staunton said in the video. “I will do my utmost best to maintain the very high standard that they set. Hopefully, I look calm, collected, and capable. My stomach, meanwhile, is doing somersaults,” she added. Watch her video below!

Previous Awards Won by ‘The Crown’

The Crown swept the competition at this year’s Emmys. Their fourth season took home the win for Outstanding Drama Series, a first for Netflix. Moreover, Olivia Colman, Josh O’Connor, Tobias Menzies and Gillian Anderson earned awards for their performances. Emma Corrin, Emerald Fennell and Helena Bonham Carter were nominated as well.

The Expected Cast for the Upcoming Season

The fifth season stars Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana and Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip. Also, the cast will include Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret and Dominic West as Prince Charles.
