April 7th is finally here. Star Wars Celebration 2023 has arrived and debuted some big news for the future of Star Wars projects.

AHSOKA- Aug. 2023
Dave Filoni’s animated world from The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels continues the live-action adaptation treatment. First seen in The Mandalorian, Ahsoka will follow the title character as she reunites with characters from Star Wars Rebels and seeks to find lost friends and prevent the “Heir To The Empire” from receiving the throne. Premiering on Disney+ in August.
SKELETON CREW – 2023
Star Wars Skeleton Crew seeks to blend the pulpy action world of Star Wars with the height of kid-friendly adventures in the 1980s like ET, The Goonies, and Stand By Me. Skeleton Crew follows 4 children running away from responsibilities, aliens, and dangerous criminals, but running directly into a disgraced Jedi. (played by Jude Law) Premiering on Disney+ in 2023.
ANDOR SEASON 2 – Aug. 2024
Andor Season 1 took Star Wars fans by the heart and never let go. It quickly became a fan favorite by bringing the slow, tension-filled story blocks from a property like Game Of Thrones into Star Wars. Season 2 of Andor is filming and will spend a year in post-production before its August 2024 release on Disney+.
THE ACOLYTE – 2024
Star Wars The Acolyte is a new project being helmed by Leslye Headland. She described the project as being a dark mix of Frozen and Kill Bill. The show is set in a time before the prequel movies in a time where the “bad guys” are outnumbered. It will feature a heavy martial arts inspiration in conjunction with its lightsaber action. With 4 episodes already finished, expect this one to release in the spring of 2024 on Disney+.
Star Wars Theatrical Features
Kathleen Kennedy announced that future projects will span all 7 eras of Star Wars. There are currently 3 theatrical Star Wars projects currently in various stages of development.
James Mangold is directing a film about the first Jedi and will be set in the era “Dawn Of The Jedi“. The film is described as a “biblical epic” akin to The Ten Commandments.
Dave Filoni is directing a film that will culminate the events of the “Mandoverse” projects (Mandalorian, Book Of Boba Fett, Ahsoka)
Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is directing a film set 15 years after The Rise Of Skywalker. Rey Skywalker will return and try to establish a new Jedi order.
