Former guest star Scott Speedman has reprised his role as transplant surgeon Nick Marsh on the latest season of Grey’s Anatomy. The surgeon scrubs in as a series regular as revealed by Deadline.
For two consecutive seasons, the show has been full of returnees. Some of the fan favorites who returned last season include Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey), Mark Sloan (Eric Dane) and Lexie Grey (Chyler Leigh). Now the 18th season of Grey’s Anatomy will incorporate the beloved Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh), alongside Meredith Grey’s (Ellen Pompeo) potential love interest Dr. Nick Marsh (Scott Speedman). The promo teaser revealed Speedman’s character as “someone from Meredith’s past.”
About Scott Speedman
Speedman joined Grey’s Anatomy for an episode in season 14. While flirting occurred between Meredith and Marsh, nothing else came from it. After three years, viewers will see the transplant surgeon for more than just one episode. Despite Meredith’s constant cycle of partners, we are hoping this one sticks. Their chemistry on that fateful episode in season 14 sparked conversation on the internet. Excitingly enough, fans can now watch their story develop in the upcoming season.

What to Expect for Speedman’s Character
The premiere recap spoiler below:
Meredith bumped into Nick Marsh while on a trip to Minnesota. She was initially invited to attend a dedicated research library to her late mother by neurosurgeon David Hamilton (Peter Gallagher). While at dinner with Hamilton who is trying to convince her to run an experimental lab for Parkinson’s surgery, she noticed Marsh across the room. As he is leaving with a date, they make eye contact. Later she finds him waiting for her at her hotel and they chat at the bar.
