Devastating news has struck that Michael K. Williams, 54, was found dead in his Brooklyn residence on Monday. According to CNN, an official revealed that investigators found drug paraphernalia near his body. The investigation is still ongoing.

Williams is best remembered as Omar Little in HBO series The Wire and Chalky White in Boardwalk Empire. He has been Emmy nominated for outstanding supporting actor in a limited series for his roles in When They See Us, The Night Of and Bessie. Likewise, he is currently nominated as an Emmy contender for outstanding actor in a drama series for his contribution in Lovecraft Country.

HBO’s Statement Regarding Sudden Passing
“We are devastated to learn of the passing of Michael Kenneth Williams, a member of the HBO family for more than 20 years”. HBO released in a statement. “While the world is aware of his immense talents as an artist, we knew Michael as a dear friend who was beloved by all who had the privilege to work with him. We send our deepest condolences to his family for this immeasurable loss.” They added.
He is also known for his comedy roles in Community and Netflix’s feature The Red Sea Diving Resort. Moreover, he appeared briefly in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Williams additionally was part of the Boardwalk Empire that won the SAG award for best ensemble.

Wire co-star Wendell Pierce paid tribute to Williams via Twitter. “The depth of my love for this brother, can only be matched by the depth of my pain learning of his loss.
