Music artist Louis Tomlinson announced via Twitter the cancellation of his shows in Moscow and Kyiv as the Russian invasion of Ukraine carries on.
The announcement comes as the invasion escalates to deadlier heights. Russian forces have ramped up their assault on Ukraine and its citizens, with the U.N. human rights office reporting there to be 136 civilian deaths. The Ukrainian emergency services report over 2,000 civilian deaths.
Russia began its invasion on Feb. 23. The war has created close to a million refugees fleeing the violence. Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his administration still have control over the country’s capital, Kyiv. Russia, however, captured its first major city since the invasion began in the form of Kherson on March 2nd.
Louis Tomlinson, the former One Direction member, is set to begin the world tour for his debut album Walls.
