Academy Award-winning actors Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline have been tabbed to star in Alfonso Cuarón’s new AppleTV+ series Disclaimer.
Disclaimer will be Cuarón first project since 2019’s Roma, a film written and directed by Cuarón. Roma was the recipient of Best Foreign Language Film Academy Award and was nominated for several awards, including Best Motion Picture. Cuarón signed an overall deal with AppleTV+ back in 2019 as well.
Cuarón serves as writer, director and executive producer for all episodes in Disclaimer, a first in his career. Blanchett also serves as executive producer.
The show will be an adaptation of Renee Knight’s novel of the same name. Blanchett plays Catherine Ravenscroft, a successful television documentary journalist who focuses on exposing institutional transgressions. Kline plays a widower who has written a novel that has connected to a past Ravenscroft thought she had put behind her.
Cuarón and Academy Award-winning cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki reunite for the project. Academy Award nominee Bruno Delbonnel will also serve as director of photography. Disclaimer is produced by Esperanto Filmoj and Anonymous Content. Esperanto Filmoj’s Gabriela Rodriguez and Anonymous Content’s David Levine, Dawn Olmstead and Steve Golin are executive producers. Renee Knight co-executive produces.
