A new deal has been reached with “Dexter” star Michael C. Hall for seasons 7 and 8 which will likely be the last two seasons. Hall had been hesitant on returning for more television, since that has been mainly his place for the past ten years. “Six Feet Under” started in 2001, “Dexter” began right after it ended. Hall wants to get more into film projects he’s interested in, other than the few roles he has played such as in the Gerard Butler vehicle “Gamer” and “Paycheck.”
Last week’s episode had the highest ratings since its season 6 opener, adding to the show’s enormous success. The series, based on the novel by Jeff Lindsay, Darkly Dreaming Dexter has spawned 5 others including Double Dexter which came out in October. Dexter Morgan is one of the best television characters of this generation, being a serial killer who kills bad guys only. Completely absent when it comes to emotions, as each season passes he has learned to be more human as well as seemingly gaining emotions he never had.
After this week’s episode, the last third of season 6 will be left to be seen. Season 7 starts shooting next year in Los Angeles, each of the last seasons with 12 episodes each. Fans of the series will be excited to know that there will be more to come for seeing how the world of “Dexter” turns out.
It will also be exciting to get to see new guest stars in further seasons, Colin Hanks, Edward James Olmos, and Mos Def (credited as Mos and Yasiin Bey) being in this most recent season.
Be sure to tune in for tonight’s episode at 9/8c on Showtime.
