‘The Magnificent Seven’: Chris Pratt Talks Making a Western

This weekend, a remake of the 1960 western The Magnificent Seven arrives in theaters. In the film, Chris Pratt portrays gambler Josh Farraday who is one of seven outlaws that try to protect the town of Rose Creek from being taken over by industrialist Bartholomew Bogue. Pratt took some time to talk with BackstageOL’s Dave Morales  about what it was like to make a western.

“It’s exactly what you’d expect,” he said. “It’s a lot of hard work, but it’s fun, man. You got guns, and horses, and you know, dust, and mud, and you’re…watching Denzel Washington work.”

Pratt also revealed that the weather made filming a little difficult.

“[It was] particularly hot in Baton Rouge last year when we filmed, and we went through a heat wave,” he stated. “But also we’re fighting the elements ‘cause these big thunderstorms would come in every day…It was work.”

The Magnificent Seven also stars Denzel Washington, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D’Onofrio, Lee Byung-hun, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Martin Sensmeier, Haley Bennett and Peter Sarsgaard.
